Recruiting timeline questions
When do investment banking applications open?
In the US, junior-summer analyst applications have been opening around 1 September of sophomore year — roughly 21 months before the internship starts — and are largely closed by the end of January. In the UK and Europe the same cycle runs a year later relative to graduation: applications open around 1 September of the penultimate year and most seats are gone by the end of January. Some banks have opened and closed applications in under 48 hours, so speed of application is itself a filter.
When do quant internship deadlines hit?
Quant postings go live around July of the penultimate year, roughly 11–12 months before the internship, with online assessments and first rounds concentrated in October. The posted deadline runs to about the end of March, but firms review on a rolling basis — the class fills quietly underneath a posting that is still up.
Am I too late to recruit for this cycle?
If your cycle has already closed, the main class is gone but the year is not. Off-cycle roles, boutiques and middle-market firms post year-round and recruit on rolling timelines. The Recruiting Clock tells you exactly how many days past your close date you are, and what to do this week either way.
What is the Recruiting Clock?
A free tool that takes your track (investment banking or quant), your region, and your expected graduation year, and returns how many days until — or since — your recruiting cycle opened, which of the four fundamentals you are missing, and one action for this week. No email required, nothing stored.
